My favourite quote from this book is “what book made you fall in love with reading again?’. For some that book might be a classic, the book that you cling to when you need comfort in your life, for others that may be a book that gives you a new feeling of hope. For me, that book was Where The Crawdads Sing. Book lovers is a tale between two sisters who’s love for reading they get from their late mother. Nora is a book editor and goes on a trip to a small town after her pregnant sister convinces her that she needs some time away from work to a small-town setting from their favourite novel. This plan quickly fails when Nora runs into her nemesis, Charlie, a fellow book editor and realizes that she cannot get rid of him as quickly as she wants. This is a story of sisterhood, friendship, and the deep-rooted connection that some share between books.

The character development of Nora was something quite beautiful. Nora, the cutthroat “shark” was often kind, loving and cared more for her sister’s well-being than her own. Although she did put her work first, and love her upscale life, she took care of the people closest to her first and foremost.

The only thing that I did not like throughout the book was Libby’s obsession with her sister’s dating life. I understand that Libby was looking out for Nora and wanted to take care of her in a sort of way that Nora was taking care of her, but Nora never needed to be saved. Not recovering from a damaging relationship doesn’t mean that she isn’t capable of love.

The ending of this book did surprise me in a way. Without ruining it, the novel talks a lot about the main characters love for not your typical endings, I was surprised that this one did not have an unexpected, twisted ending, I almost expected it too.

I give this book 4.5 stars.
