This romance thriller kept me on the edge of my seat, begging for more. This romantic story is about Knox, a quiet entrepreneur who only tolerates his basset hound, Waylon. Then he meets Naomi, who comes rolling into town, a runaway bride with not much but the clothes on her back and a daisy in her hair. She not only learns that she has an 11-year-old niece but is forced to take care of her. She must navigate life in the shadow of her estranged twin, Tina, in the small town of Knockemount, Virginia.
I didn't want to like this book. I tried not to love it, but the plot and the captivating writing hooked me. It was very recommended, and I thought that it was going to be another typical girl stuck in a small town and falls in love with the town hottie type of romance. However, the characters' growth helped me believe in the love that was evolving.
Naomi had to grow up quickly; she had to mature into something that she didn't know she was capable of. I feel that aspect of the story is very relatable for many. Naomi and Knox were more alike than what the book presented. They both had internal struggles that made them feel like they didn't deserve each other's love.
The POV switched back and forth from Naomi to Knox. This was interesting because when each of them was struggling, you could understand what was going on internally and then you could see the other person's perspective.
There is only one thing that I didn't like about this book, and it would be Tina. I wish that we knew more about Tina. What fueled her madness and led her to make all the poor life choices that took her down the wrong path.
Overall, I would recommend this book to everyone I already have. I have raved about this book to my friends and family, one of my personal favourites by Lucy Score.
I would give this book 4.5/5.
